An apostille is an official certificate that verifies the authenticity of legal documents for use in another country.
You will need an apostille if the country where you intend to use your document is on the 1961 Hague Convention member list. The Convention facilitates recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments.
The Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA) is the only state agency authorized to issue apostilles for certified publicly recorded documents originating in the State of Georgia for use abroad.
1875 Century Blvd. Ste.100, Atlanta, GA 30345
Countries not participating in the Hague Convention require the Great Seal certification and legalization by the embassy of the destination country.
The Secretary of State’s Elections Division provides Great Seal certification for authentication of public documents for use in non-Hague countries.
2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE, Suite 802 - Floyd West Tower Atlanta, GA 30334
A certification of notary public, also called a certificate of authority, certifies that the notary public holds, or held, a notary commission during a particular term of office (not used in conjunction with an apostille).
Notarized documents must be submitted to the notary's commissioning county.
The GSCCCA only issues this certification for documents used within the U.S., a U.S. territory or U.S. embassy.
Service time and fees will vary based upon service details such as document state origination, type of document certification and/or authentication required, and country of destination.
